I'm not a good sleeper at the best of times. I've gone whole years completely dependent on earplugs, just to get through life in student residence halls. With Jakob sleeping in our room, I wake up with every gurgle and coo. Since he wants to nurse every three hours, and since (by the time burps, spit-ups, and mid-meal diaper changes are accounted for) each feed takes a good hour or more, I've been subsisting on naps of ninety minutes to an hour, and those naps are invariably broken by me waking up with every little tiny sound he utters.
I'm getting desperate.
And, so, last night, Werner took the Bärchen into the guest room and brought him to me to nurse. I did wake up more than once wondering why it was so quiet ("What's wrong with the baby??"), but I got some semi-solid sleep. Surely the best sleep I've had in months.
I missed my husband, but I'll be a better wife with a little quality sleep.
