The sincerest form of flattery

With Jakob still too small to be put in a highchair, whenever we go to a restaurant, we request a table for two plus a stroller, and leave him safely tucked inside his bassinet. Often he sleeps, but lately he is at least as likely to be awake and interested in what's happening around him.

Such was the case during supper our first night in Tofino. We positioned the stroller along the end of our table, so we were both close at hand and Jakob was facing Werner. As we dined, Jakob suddenly began to imitate Werner. Jakob brought one of his hands, index finger outstretched, to his mouth, and then pulled it away. Werner did the same. Jakob repeated. (Ok, so Werner was also imitating Jakob.) This went back and forth long enough for us to forget about the very good food set before us, and was interspersed with big Jakob smiles.

He and I have also had a go at this, in our case sticking our tongues out at each other.

Have I mentioned how cute he is??
