"Trying to beat the heat?"

A week or so ago I visited the maternity shops on West 4th Avenue. At the Thyme store, the clerk asked me whether I was looking for something to "beat the heat". Um, no. Even pregnant, I just do not consider 20 degrees Celsius to be hot. And, in May, June, July, or August, I don't even consider that to be warm for a daytime temperature.

As it happened, I was looking for a sweater, to fight the chill-induced goosebumps!
