Our first few prenatal classes we found to be
somewhat less than useful. Happily, the final session of the stage 2 series was much more interesting and useful. The topic? Infant care. The topics (sort-of) covered in the first two classes we could generally research ourselves, and although we do have some books that discuss baby care, this class gave us the chance to diaper and bathe a baby. Well, it was a doll rather than a baby, but at least we could practise diapering and bathing without fear. There was also a car seat, so we got an idea of just how to deal with a five-point harness. I appreciated the opportunity to try to shift between different 'holds' without the risk of dropping a real live baby.
A useful session - although I expect it will all be much trickier with a squirming baby rather than a doll!
PS -
of course there was yet another video. This one: breastfeeding. No voiceover, but each section of the video opened with a title 'slide' in English and Spanish.
