A little less fodder for panic
We started off at TJ's, where we effectively cleaned out our registry. As planned, it was an effective way for us to go in the store and power-shop as quickly and efficiently as possible. We got just about everything on the list; the only things we didn't get are things that we won't need right away (like the purple Bumbo seat), or that we aren't sure we really need (such as the crib tent, which we're not sure we'll need because Phoebe hasn't shown any interested in jumping inside the crib). Before going out, I made up a list of clothing and other such items that we still needed, but as it happens TJ's didn't have all we needed.
So then we went downtown. After lunch at Tim's, we went to the mall. Between The Bay and Sears1, we stocked up on newborn-sized sleepers and diaper shirts, and got a second hooded towel set. We also caved in to cuteness (yes, both of us!) and got some larger-sized clothing, too, including a fleece pant and shirt set with bears, and a Winnie-the-Pooh sleeper and sleeping bag set. I think we now have enough diaper shirts and sleepers, although come to think of it I haven't really bought any other clothes in the newborn size. I assume that Bärchen will mostly live in sleepers for the first little while, and if I'm wrong, well then there's an excuse to get more cute stuff.
So what haven't we bought? No toys yet, or mobiles or whatnot. These I think are mainly for later, although I am feeling a little guilty that we don't have any 'fun' stuff. No storybooks, either. No swing or bouncy chair (because we haven't really thought about those). Just the basics.
There was a 'baby fair' on at Canada Place, so we went there to round out the day. We didn't buy anything, but would have if the new Diaper Genie had been for sale. There was a booth, so we did get to try it out and see how it differs from the original, but they weren't selling them.
Now I have to update the inventory and do a gazillion more loads of laundry. Maybe I'll take and post some photos of the newest items, so stay tuned.
1 Before my mother thinks I've finally 'come around' with regard to Sears, let me point out that The Bay was largely cleaned out of newborn sizes. Seems other expectant moms first turn to The Bay - and they beat me to it.

I'm holding out for the new diaper genie too. I didn't see it in Target when we went cross-border shopping.
At the baby fair, we were told that the new one was released on September 5 (I think). I called Babies R Us yesterday, and they said to try back in a week. That's the last thing on the list, so I hope it comes in soon!
