Inventory
I meant to get a photo that compared the pile of clothes that we own, and what we've borrowed. It was quite astonishing. Alas, preggie brain hit, and once again I forgot that I had a camera within arm's reach.
Nevertheless, since baby clothes are so darn cute, here's the inventory of things we've either bought or received as gifts:
The very first baby clothes I bought for Bärchen, a set imported from France, bought at a shop in Old Montréal, and later found at a boutique in Richmond.... agh! Cats and fish, what's not to love?

The only other items of clothing I've bought. Four diaper shirts (different sizes), and one footless sleeper:

Courtesy of Nanny:

The white knit set (sweater, bonnet, and booties) is a gift from my grandmother; the yellow sweater was knitted by a friend of my aunt; the multi-coloured hat is a Peruvian souvenir from Jacquie; the super-soft blanket is another gift from Nanny:

Booties! The grizzly bear booties are from Nanny, the other two pairs (squirrels and teddy bears) we bought when we picked up the stroller and crib mattress:

(Yes, this weekend we're going shopping.)

A-ha!! I know exactly where Jacquie got that hat!!!
You call them diaper shirts? We call them "onesies." If only my brother-in-law had known about the diaper shirt . . . after his daughter was born, he pleaded with me, "isn't there another name for these things, so I don't have to constantly be referring to 'onesies'?"
Now I know - I'll have to clue him in before his next baby comes along in March!
Jacquie said you told her about that store!
As for diaper shirts v. onesies: my understanding (quite possibly very, very incorrect!) is that onesies pull on over the head (like a t-shirt) and diaper shirts have the snaps down the torso and do up more like a shirt.
Wow! I had never thought about the distinction! The diaper shirts are, I believe, more useful in the early days than the over-the-head ones, because you can sort of roll baby into them, instead of trying to wiggle them over the head!
OH, and as for the hat - let's just say that baerchen and Alec will be matching buddies around UBC come January!
