And this wasn't so good

I also had to go to the dentist today. I hadn't planned to go on a day when Werner couldn't care for Jakob, but there was a cancellation, and it was either this or a month from now, and they said I could bring Jakob.

So after Pane, Jakob and I went to the mall so I could look for some new pants for him. He went through a terrible fussiness in Gymboree. I had to keep the stroller moving constantly, and even that didn't always work. I had also fed him immediately before going to Gymboree, so it wasn't that.

On the way to the dentist, he mercifully fell asleep in his carseat. I popped it onto the Bug chassis and strolled him into the dentist's office. He slept for the first few minutes of my cleaning, but when he woke up, it was with the afternoon fussies. I held him for a bit, but that didn't work, so one of the young assistants came and collected him and carried him around for a while. Everytime he came back into the room, he was being carried by a different person. As is too usual in the afternoon, his mood deteriorated and I could hear him crying. The (pregnant) assistant cleaning my teeth kept asking if I was ok with having someone else hold him, to which I answered, "They way he's crying, nobody's going to try to steal him anyway".

Eventually, my teeth cleaned and given the all-clear, I gathered up my crying baby, got him into his coat and carseat, and brought him home.

I hope he hasn't picked up on my dislike of dental visits. At least, his first dental visit can't have been as painful as mine was...
