His Majesty's Loyal Taste Testers

I have blurry memories of enjoying being in the kitchen, in a previous life. Werner and I now eat crap (unfortunately for him, he married me for my cooking), but I still feel obligated to feed Jakob well. So, I hope to be able to make homemade baby food.

But I'm not convinced I'll be able to pull it off. Not because it is too complicated, but because I'm too damned exhausted. I can't imagine adding yet another thing to my things-to-do-to-get-through-the-day list. But I'm gonna try.

Even if I can pull it off, though, sooner or later Jakob will have to eat commercially-prepared baby food. Our trip to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland, for instance. He'll get jarred baby food then.

To assuage my guilt, I have issued a decree that anything Jakob is going to eat, we'll also have to try. And so I've been buying jars of organic baby food for us to eat. Our very own taste-tests: different flavours, different brands, and different brands' offering of the same flavours.

(And what we've concluded so far is that homemade baby food has got to taste better than a lot of this stuff!)

(And, yes, this is what happens when a PhD slowly loses her mind...)
