Pastoral care

Yesterday, a care package was dropped off to us, on behalf of our church's Pastoral Care Committee. The gift basket included many things that are clearly meant to help the parents out! Nutrition for the breastfeeding mother, goodies for the sleep-deprived parents. Included were a whole pineapple, tealight candles and holders, decaf tea, a bag of cashews and another of mixed fruit and nuts (unfortunately, that one includes peanuts), a bottle of Knudsen 'Razzleberry' juice, a box of Swedish biscuits, and a Toberlone bar. For the Bärchen, a knit toy and a boxed set of children's books.

On the topic of church, we've recently met with the minister to discuss Baptism. Given the distance, we don't expect our families to be able to attend (but, then, the distance is nothing new). Date hasn't been set yet, but the Baptism will be sooner rather than later.

Now, if only I could find a nice Christening gown... Easier said than done, especially for a boy. (And I loathe those silly white suits - no offence, of course.)

And fingers crossed that the chapel will have heat soon. Without any electricity, the brand-new furnace sits idle while the congregation shivers. We've brought Jakob to church only once, not wanting him to turn into a bearsicle. No Baptism until there's heat!
