Jetway robbery
So this was a new experience for us, not being able to bring water through security. Since I'm still breastfeeding, I'm even thirstier than I was while pregnant, if that is even possible. Fortunately, at least it is now permitted to buy beverages inside the secured zone and to bring those aboard.
So I did. I bought two one-litre bottles of water to bring on our flight to Europe. The total was over $7. So much for street-level pricing, eh?
And at Vienna airport, Werner went on an expedition to Starbucks while I fed Jakob. For my tall Americano and his short latte, the bill was over €8, or about Can$12. As it happened, we had to guzzle our beverages there, because each gate had its own security control. We didn't try to bring our coffees through, we just assumed they'd be banned.
1 Our flight out of Vienna was delayed - but only once we'd all boarded. The flight crew was great and let us walk around with Jakob and even offered us snacks and drinks. The flight attendant even grumbled to me about not being able to bring along beverages, mainly that it was an American rule that applied to European airports and airlines.
