Playtime for Jakob

Jakob is still clearly on Vancouver time. I, however, am not. After another poor sleep, on Friday I gave up at 7 am and read Wednesday's Globe. At 10:45 am we managed to get out the door and down to the hotel pub for breakfast.

Werner's conference began yesterday, so after breakfast (which was definitely more brunch for us) Jakob and I walked over to Dal with him. Mom and Gord had come into Halifax by this time, so they also walked over and joined Jakob and I while Werner was at his sessions. We walked back towards our hotel, and found a nice place to have lunch.

Mom and I window-shopped a bit on the way back to our hotel, and then they came in and played with Jakob for a bit until it was obviously time for me to feed him (he tried to latch on through my t-shirt) and put him down for a nap. They returned to their hotel to check in, and I worked on a referee report while Jakob slept. Werner came back about 6:30, which also coaxed Jakob back into wakefulness, and we had some time together before he had to go to a dinner. Mom and Gord had come back by then, so Mom fed Jakob and later we went to the hotel pub for our supper. Jakob had so much fun with his Nanny, and giggled his way through much of our mealtime. Back in our room, she got him ready for bed (being soaked in orange spit-up in the process) and read to him.

He was very tired and hardly even fought sleep; he was soundly out by the time they left and, concurrently, his Papa returned.

Our colds, it seems, aren't gone. Jakob's breathing becomes quite rattly as the day wears on, and I'm losing my voice. I'm eager to see my friend Joan while in town, but at this point conversation will be a challenge for me.
