Finally, some research

This afternoon, after a prenatal massage and then lunch, I headed to the hospital for a research study. All I had to do was relax in a comfy chair while a heartrate monitor and a pressure sensor recorded Bärchen's heartrate and checked for contractions. And whenever Bärchen moved, I had to press a button.

Really amazing!! Every time Bärchen squirmed, the heartrate went up about 20 beats per minute, exactly as it should at this point in pregnancy. The nurse, I was told, reported that the results were "Fabulous". Well done, Bärchen!

The test ran for only about 20 minutes, and it was actually quite pleasant. I feel like I learnt more about Bärchen, and also managed to contribute to somebody's research. Good all around.

I also completed a questionnaire for another study, about sleep in late pregnancy.

Oh, and of course I had to stop at the loo before leaving the hospital. And while I was in there, I saw a poster for another study. I've just sent an email to the address on the poster, so maybe I'll be able to help out there, too.

PS - If only I was contributing to my own research!! I know that's something I used to do... vague memories coming back to me now... {sigh}
