Sweet presents for Bärchen

Bärchen has received some very beautiful, heartfelt presents these last few days:

A fleece bunting and Bärchen's first story book (When You Were Small, by Sara O'Leary and illustrated by Julie Morstad), both gifts from Jacquie:

The fleece will keep Bärchen cosy and dry, whether we're out running errands or on a snowshoe trail. The book is simply beautiful, both the text and the illustrations. I love the pet ant, the peapod, and well all of it!

A bear for Bärchen! Handknit by Sylvia:

I'm sure this bear will be well-loved, with its adorable smile and open arms. A fine friend for Bärchen!

Today I was expecting one package to be delivered by UPS. What a surprise when I signed for two! The surprise package was from Catherine, who sent a range of gifts for Bärchen and I:

A journal for pregnancy, and one for the baby. A packet of tissues with a design that shows a baby reading a book about training parents, a copy of Diary of a Mad Mom-to-be (which seems especially appropriate since Catherine sent a copy of Diary of a Mad Bride-to-be when I told her we were engaged!), and two notepads to serve as reminders for my pregnant brain. (I hope you kept some for yourself - if preggie brain hasn't hit yet, I promise it will!) The baby journal in particular brought tears to my eyes. At a time when I'm tired and achy and uncomfortable and increasingly cranky, it was a simple reminder of why I'm doing this and that I should be excited about holding this baby in our arms.

Thank you to all of you. Your thoughtfulness has touched me.
