On Saturday, the day Jakob celebrated his first full month of life, we hosted an open house for local friends to come and meet him. We haven't been feeling very sociable, both because of sheer exhaustion and simply wanting to have Jakob's first days as intimate, family-only times. We've wanted this to be
our time, and haven't really wanted to share. So for a few hours we decided to welcome a few visitors. We haven't exactly come out of our cave, but for just the shortest time we welcomed a few guests into said cave.
It also gave me an excuse to do a little baking. I enjoy cooking with my Mom, and was glad for the opportunity to do so. We baked four types of cookies including, of course, bear-shaped gingerbread cookies. Baking: good for the soul.
