Perfectly natural, but not naturally perfect

That's what I've heard - more than once - about breastfeeding. And I'm beginning to believe it more than ever.

This morning we had another appointment with Dr L., the breastfeeding specialist. Her demeanour is calming and reassuring, and just what I needed. The plan for now is to hold off breastfeeding for another week and just to continue to pump and bottlefeed. She said that there's no rush for Jakob to learn how to latch, the only urgency is to ensure that my milk production continues; the pumping will take care of that. And to take care of me, she prescribed a cream that should soothe my nibbled bits.

The main factor is that he's still a little guy, and has just enough of an overbite to make breastfeeding that much more difficult. With time, he'll grow big enough that it will become easier for us both.
