We needed bread

We needed a loaf of bread. Life before Bärchen, this would take me 15 minutes if I drove: 5 minutes drive each way, and 5 minutes in the bakery. Now it takes me that long just to get Jakob settled into his carseat, never mind getting him downstairs, don't forget the diaper bag, get past Phoebe, get him into the car, drive to the bakery, set up the stroller chassis, get him out of the car and click the carseat onto the stroller chassis, into the bakery...

And reverse.

Easily an hour.

As my pregnancy wore on (and on), I savoured every moment of quickness of chores. I remember running into a pharmacy to pick up one item, and realising that it would only take a moment then. I didn't want to take that for granted any longer.

Now, even small things are exhausting. Most of the time, I just can't be bothered.

But we needed the bread.
