Last night we had only our third babyless night out since becoming parents. Mom and Gord stayed with Jakob while Werner and I, relatively dressed up (and not wearing any baby spit-up, I hope), went to a nice
restaurant just a couple blocks from our hotel. I had a warm scallop and caramelised brie salad, wild mushroom risotto, and a decadent chocolatey dessert, while Werner had halibut chowder, roasted chicken breast and (of course!) crème brulée. We even managed to hardly discuss the baby (other than me sighing, "He's crawling! Our little bear is growing up!" every once in a while).
1 It was a restorative evening for two.
We returned to our room to find two grandparents happily reading while our fed and bathed Bärchen slumbered in his playpen. They had an enjoyable evening with their little grandson, and judging by how many smiles and giggles Jakob gives them during the day, he probably loved his time with them, too!
1 Of course, not having much of a voice myself made for a fairly one-sided 'conversation'.
