Daddy's hard work

Werner has been keeping very very busy lately. With our recent big shopping trip, he had lots of new toys to investigate and set up. (Phoebe, too, has helped in his investigations.) The crib and dresser remain in their boxes, awaiting set-up until the nursery has been painted, but the carseat quickly caught his attention. Picked up just after lunch on Saturday, it was in the car before the day was out.

Speaking of painting, we also picked up the wall paint on Saturday. He quickly set to work that afternoon, repairing the walls. (Technically, this should have been part of the one-year warranty work by our builder, but they've proven time and again that they cannot be trusted to meet their obligations. So Werner did it himself.) Here he is, repairing a deficiency that was noted in our May, 2004, pre-occupancy inspection:

Once the walls were in good order, it was time to paint! We've chosen a purple colour for the nursery walls (finally! A room in my favourite colour! I'm going to want to sleep in there.), which will (hopefully) be complemented by yellow. After lunch on Sunday, Phoebe and I were banned from the room while Werner applied the first coat of paint:

Next order of business? Assembling the crib and dresser, as I attempt to stencil yellow teddy bears onto the nursery walls...
