That explains a lot

Today I received a final package from the baby's diary study in which we participated. Included was a cheque (enough for a bag of diapers), a letter requesting that we keep the study's purpose a secret (oops!) and saying that the researchers hope the baby is enjoying the teddy bear he was sent (um, yeah, the one that has the tag that reads "Suitable for 3+ years"? Perfect for a newborn. Thanks.), a "junior researcher" certificate for Jakob, and a breakdown of a typical day in Jakob's five-week-old life:
  • Sleeping: 53% or 12.8 hours
  • Fussing: 14% or 3.3 hours
  • Awake and content: 11% or 2.6 hours
  • Unsoothable crying: 1% or .3 hours
  • Feeding: 19% or 4.6 hours
  • Crying: 2% or 0.4 hours
It further reads:

"You were in close body contact while either carrying or holding your baby 10.6 hours every day."

That sure explains a lot, no?
