Farewell to Nova Scotia
After lunch, Mom and Gord left to catch the ferry to Newfoundland, and soon afterwards Werner met up with Jakob and I. First we had a walk around the Public Gardens, where I was especially excited to see both the sun and ducklings!

Later, we drove out to the York Redoubt:

We returned to the hotel in the late afternoon. After a bit of a rest, we set out for supper. We had previously spotted an Italian restaurant that we wanted to try, but it, we discovered, is closed on Sundays. So, it seems, were many of the other restaurants in the area. We finally ended up at the pub from which Werner had bought the pizza our first night in Halifax. We had no sooner settled in than Jakob had a full-on meltdown, the kind where nothing would work to calm him. I brought him back to the hotel and parked him in front of Baby Einstein while Werner ordered take-away.
Monday morning, we tried Pete's Frootique for breakfast. Oh, how I wish I could grocery shop at this store!1 We had a lovely fresh breakfast, and Jakob had a good look around while we ate.
After checking out of the hotel, we drove out to the airport, checked in, had lunch, and went through security. Jakob enjoyed the flight to Deer Lake, and flirted shamelessly (again) with the two women seated behind us. We had a bit of a wait for our rental car, and once we finally got it (a monstrous Impala), it was a challenge fitting everything in. After solving that puzzle, we headed off to my aunt and uncle's home in Corner Brook.
1 Why aren't there stores like this in Vancouver??
