Sweet music

We picked it up on a Saturday morning. I was eager enough to be tempted to try it out as soon as we got back in the car, but Werner was (as always) more rational than I. And then he took me for lunch in Steveston.
When we finally got home, we gave it a try. After 30 or 45 anxious minutes, we finally found the heartbeat. What a sweet, sweet sound! Reassurance that there really was a baby in there. Since then, I've used the Doppler every day to eavesdrop on kleine Bärchen. (Bärchen, by the way, didn't seem to enjoy this as much as I did, and kicked even more while I was listening in.)
Every day until Saturday, that is. That's the day I dropped it in the mail. All along, I've said I'd return it once I felt fairly regular movement, and the baby's movements have been getting stronger and more regular over these last few weeks. Since the 8th of the month was the start of a new billing cycle, it was time to let go of the Doppler.
I shall miss it.
