On the topic of changing dimensions...
(Or: As the belly grows, so too does the car)

As I mentioned, we rented a car for our trip to the Okanagan. We came up here last year in our beloved Gölfchen, but found it extraordinarily hot. It was definitely uncomfortable last year, but this year we feared it would be too much for me and Bärchen. Besides, last year we bought virtually no wine (just what could fit in the cooler, along with the fruit I insisted on picking) for fear of it going off from sitting in the hot car. Now, I haven't touched wine since January, and during that time we've been to what may possibly be a record number of wine tastings, so Werner owes me. Meaning that last night we went up to Quail's Gate and stocked up for when I can, at last, once again enjoy an occasional glass of wine.

We love our Gölfchen for many reasons, one of which is that he is just the right size for city driving and itsy-bitsy parking spaces. Our rental car is definitely not. When I drove out to the Orchard Park Mall, I parked on the fringes, hoping to avoid having other cars anywhere near the land boat. Ahoy, maties!

As a full-sized vehicle, this particular model may very well qualify as a 'family car', but definitely not for this growing family!
